The Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA), established in 1994, is the leading body responsible for promoting, supporting, and developing the franchise industry in Malaysia. Acting as a central platform for franchisors, franchisees, and industry stakeholders, MFA works to enhance the sector’s contribution to national economic growth.

Besides, MFA is the only Association in Malaysia recognized by the World Franchise Council (WFC) & Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation (APFC).

Key notes:
1. Registration requirement for foreign franchisors
Foreign franchisors are required to register with the Registrar of Franchise ("Registrar") before the foreign franchisor can make an offer to sell a franchise in Malaysia.
2. Registration by franchisees
It is now an offence if a franchisee of a foreign franchisor or a franchisee of a local franchisor fails to obtain registration.
